Ed Sheldon Dies Unfortunately, we have lost another esteemed club member. Ed Sheldon passed away on June 24, 2008. He was 91. Thanks go to Walt Curry, who provided the following information about Mr. Sheldon... Ed worked as a radio repairman in the 1930s, specializing in car radio installations. Later, he worked as an electrical engineer at JPL. Upon retirement from JPL he became a member of SCARS, serving first as secretary, and then for many years as a director. He wrote several articles for our Gazette, and was more interested in how radio circuits worked than in how "deco" a radio looked. Ed was well versed in vacuum tube technology & had a special interest in tube based hi-fi. His presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Clarence Hill Passes Away at 90 I'm sorry to inform all that venerable SCARS member Clarence Hill died on May 15th, 2008, while being hospitalized. Born in Chicago, Clarence moved to California in the 1950s. A magnanimous character and liked by many, he will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and condolences go out to those who were closest to him. |
