The Earle C. Anthony Collection

With few exceptions, these items were last minute salvage from Mr. Anthony's office.  Rescued from a wheelbarrow headed for the alley and the L.A.City dump. These units have only been cleaned and waxed.

Mr. Anthony's M.4A-W.E. Receiver is shown with the Antenna Tuner and Switch Box for
the loop antenna (far left). This receiver used plug in coils and a separate power pac.

A separate two stage (01A's ) Audio Amplifier, made by Magnavox of Oakland, California,
powered the Magnavox exponential horn.  This horn uses an electro-magnetic field.

DO NOT DISTURB

Ship's Lantern

This lantern hung outside of ECA'S office.  Mr. Anthony was not to be disturbed while the lantern was ON. There was also a small red light on the switchboard.  Telephone calls were not made when that light was ON.

Westinghouse Ampere Meter        Single Button Carbon
CA 50-kw 50C Transmitter           Kellogg Hand Mike

A hand Key is connected in the 120VAC power input.  The operator must be careful not to contact the metal parts of the key.  There are heavy heat sinks on the adjustable, vibrator contacts.  This unit uses Marconi's inductively coupled circuit (it is lacking a RF tank circuit and an antenna coupler to be a complete Spark transmitter.)

Note: No FCC license is given for Spark Transmitters.  The spark creates broad bands of interference to other licensed, signals.
